Serenity at the Baclayon Church

Considered to be one of the oldest Churches in the country, Baclayon Church in Bohol is revered for its authentic Spanish influence although looking at the details of its architectural design and influences, one can noticeably observed the Chinese influence through its many religious arts.

Part of the featured attractions of this Church is its Religious Artifacts Museum which has been so prolific for its authenticity. At one glance, one can see and I even recognized some donors including the famous Capt. Tomas Cloma, who was the first person who discovered the Spratlys Islands and has been the source of the Cloma Doctrine in determining ownership of islands and atolls based on the tenets of International Law. Tomas Cloma was the admiral who discovered an uninhabited islands and placed the Philippine flag and it was the first recorded claim of the Philippines over the disputed islands.

This church also has in its famous collections some of the oldest religious dresses and figures.

We have taken this group photo for a souvenir at the church although in haste since there are far more tourists coming inside the Church for picture taking than for praying.
