Just yesterday, July 20, 2008, I took my flight out to Manila via Ozamis for the first time. I usually, take my flights either Cagayan de Oro City or Dipolog City. I had the worse travel experience in Ozamis City Airport.
Firstly, the check-in terminal except for the pre-departure lounge is not air-conditioned. Its very hot and the temperature keeps on rising because the check-in staff will consume more than the usual minutes to process every check in. We are drench in sweat and I experienced headache because of the humidity of the terminal.
I took my flight via Air Philippines and it says in our ticket that our flight is 12N but unfortunately for us, passengers, all crew and pilots had their sumptuous lunch and had us waiting without lunch until we finally went off on air pass 12N.
A person who constantly travels and uses airports can easily spot which airport is comfortable, although we are in for the money we spent on the airfare by the way. We are not seeking extra frills and benefits but at least, the basic amenities should be there or absence of it, at least, the ventilation is as good.
Of course, understandably, the airline did not offer us anything, not even newspaper to read. I can recall the last time I was traveling with either Air Philippines or Cebu Pacific, they have complimentary reading of newspapers on board. As to snacks on air, Cebu Pacific sells something on air while Air Philippines, sells nothing. Imagine, we arrived in Manila so worn out due to sweat and hungry? Sana man lang may binebenta snacks on board para pantawid gutom.
Well, as they say, in the Philippines, nothing beats a true and genuine traveling experience and you can experience the extremes, the ones for the super-rich travelers (do we have one already) or the weary traveler like us.
