Like any Asian countries that have been ruled by royalty, Malaysia is a Federated states ruled ceremonially by Datus and these chieftains are ruling Malaysia every five years. They have been very effective in changing the guards at the Istana and well beyond that, the people adored the Sultan.
Although they have a parliament that runs day-to-day affairs of the state, the Sultan is often consulted on matters of relevant importance. He is revered to this day because of their inherent right to govern Malaysia through their Royal Blood lines.
Malaysia, being a part of the Commonwealth is ceremonially headed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Whenever she does rounds of state visits to her domains like Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia among others, she is treated as a Head of State.
